Myshire Farm SSC Hatch 🐣

We put a bowl waterer and the nipple waterer in with them from day 1. They all tended to go for the bowl waterer but it got SO dirty so fast, I ended up taking it out today (they are about 3 days old), and they took from the nipple waterer almost immediately. I think with my next batch I’m going to only put in the nipple waterer. Once one started pecking at it, they all did, so I think if you add one in and take out their dish, they should figure it out pretty quickly! If mine need coxing, I usually just poke at things for a minute or two with a pencil āœļø eraser and they mimic. šŸ™‚ I hope that helps! The nipple option makes thinks SO much cleaner and easier. Mine are from RentaCoop. Good luck!
Mine are rent a coop too! So is my heat plate, and I used to buy hemp bedding from them but they don’t offer it anymore that I can find. I’m a big rent a coop fan.

Yes mam, I have adult quail that I purchased earlier in the year, and will be processing later on, but the ones I have now are my source for hatching eggs, hopefully this year and next year. I enjoy incubating chicken and now quail. I am enjoying myself immensely...
So glad to hear it! Ours are all still babies, but our goal for them is the same (hatching/laying/freezer). Quite a learning curve so far, and I’m a bit nervous about overwintering, but I can’t see homesteading now without quail. šŸ™‚šŸ£ So glad you are having fun!

An updated photo of our SSC babes as their adult feathers are coming in! šŸ§”šŸ£šŸ’• It’s looks (so far) as thought 12 out of 1; have hatched true, and we have a beautiful Wild and a White within the mix! We are so happy with them! šŸ˜ Our GPCs are going Inyo lockdown today, and I’ve made a few tweaks for hopefully a Higher hatch rate this time! I will be starting a new thread for this hatch today! Thanks for following along, Friends! This is so exciting!
