How will you be heating the brooder?

Do you have a waterer ready to go with rocks or stones to block the quail from getting in to it and wet?

Flat floor/paper towels work well for the first few days. You really want to make sure there is nothing that a quail chick could get stuck behind or under because if there's something for them to get behind or under they will figure out a way to and they'll get stuck and die.
I have a heat lamp, marbles and a chick waterer. I was gonna use wood chips as their bedding and put feed on a paper towel

Be careful with the heat lamp. Make sure you test it out beforehand. They get extremely hot.

I use a simple clippy lamp with a regular light bulb.

I will move the lamp over to one side tomorrow. I just put it in the middle for a picture. I don't have the paper towels down yet either.

I'm using a 27 gallon tub (the black ones with the yellow grip lid) and made a wood and wire lid to go on top. How do I know if the lamp is too hot beforehand? I have an ir temp gun and digital thermometer to use

Set it up like how you were planning.
Put a thermometer on the floor of your tub and see what temperature it reads on the floor.

I don't know how many eggs you are expecting to hatch but that one tub is going to get small really fast.

I have a two section hatching time quail cage and a neighbor who will take excess chicks/birds all set. Plus a coop in the back yard with space for about 20 birds. When's the earliest I can give them away/put them outside in the cold? Also sorry for asking you so much

Are you trying to kill me tonight?
I died again when you said hatching time cages. Those little bitty things?

What is cold to you?

Cold to me is 40° and it's 40° here right now.
I am probably going to be putting my chicks outside when they are one week old. I will probably move the clippy lamp outside with them for another week.

Ask away. But stop trying to kill me.

Just to be said I'm very inexperienced and apparently the videos and stuff I've been watching are horse crap haha. I have a big 20+ square foot coop outside with 5 quail rn (there were more buta cat got into the coop house) and then the hatching time for when I buy new 5 week old birds (3/4 per side and is only being used for a second time). I'm just explaing my situation and materials/ housing above.

Cold for me is 20s to 30s at night.

1. I should probably blend their feed up a bit more for the first week right? It's crumbles and fairly small already.

2. Should chicks get electrolyte and vitamin water? If so how long?

3. When are they to big too escape an egg rollout opening (1in)

4. When can they go to a 23% protein feed?

5. When can chicks get treats like millet or cabbage?

6. How are you such a helpful and awesome person : )
