Myshire Jumbo Mix—S30/F19/H10

Yes I did but only one round of testing on it. I figured that's good enough for my first time
Go to bed early tonight. Tomorrow might be a long day for you.

Almost always with all of my quail hatches... I see an internal pips on day 16.
By day 17 I see the external.
Day 18 is hatch day.

It almost always happens this way.

So take them out once they've dried then? And sorry about that the slightly rednecked guy said they can last 3 days after hatching so I thought that was fine
He's nuts.

Would you like to not eat for 3 days straight? Seriously though quail chicks usually do not eat at all on the first day but I still like to give them an option too. Some will eat but most don't start until day two.

I don't wait for chicks to dry. As long as your brooder is warmed up and safe there is no reason they can't dry in it.

You'll see first and exactly how I handle freshly hatched dummies starting probably tomorrow.

My brooder is warm now just in case.

I'll set mine up asap tomorrow morning then. Thank you very much for your help! My chicks appreciate your advice bc otherwise they'd have suffered

How will you be heating the brooder?

Do you have a waterer ready to go with rocks or stones to block the quail from getting in to it and wet?

Flat floor/paper towels work well for the first few days. You really want to make sure there is nothing that a quail chick could get stuck behind or under because if there's something for them to get behind or under they will figure out a way to and they'll get stuck and die.
