He's nuts.So take them out once they've dried then? And sorry about that the slightly rednecked guy said they can last 3 days after hatching so I thought that was fine

Would you like to not eat for 3 days straight? Seriously though quail chicks usually do not eat at all on the first day but I still like to give them an option too. Some will eat but most don't start until day two.
I don't wait for chicks to dry. As long as your brooder is warmed up and safe there is no reason they can't dry in it.
You'll see first and exactly how I handle freshly hatched dummies starting probably tomorrow.
My brooder is warm now just in case.
