Ok so I have this 7 week old Buff Orpington Roo and he is so sweet but about a day or so ago I noticed a bump on the side of his face that looked a little concerning and I was wondering if yall could tell me what it was and how to deal with it. And yes his face is a little dirty its not blood.View attachment 2389022

How does the area feel, soft, firm, hard?

I know you mentioned there being dirt over the swelling, but if you gently scrape it away, can you see a peckmark? Sometimes an infection can start from being pecked, or on occasions dirt, or debris will enter through their eye, and can get stuck. A sting bite could also be a possibility. It could also be the start of respiratory diseases such as Mycoplasma Galliseptcum or Coryza. Personally, if mine, I would try to carefully lance the swelling, and squeeze out any puss, pack it with an antibacterial ointment, and watch it. If it begins to swell more, he may need an antibiotic.

I would say more on the firm side. I tired wiping it away and I did not really notice any marks. I put some triple antibiotics ointment on it and I am gonna leave him inside for a day or 2 to watch and see if it shrinks or not.
