Two days ago my son came over with a surprise now he is from out of town and thought he was doing us a good thing... and showed up with 2 baby chicks. when I asked okay what are they he said chicks!!!! when I asked what breed are they he said oh I don't know! He got them from Coastal so I went back there today to see if I could find out what they were and of course they didn't have any more chicks of these colors for me to compare to try and figure out what he purchased. I looked at the chicks that they sell on line and none look like the ones we have. So I'm gonna ask you all for your best guess. have several photo's 1st chick has more reddish and brown down feathers and the 2nd chick has black and brown down feathers. they are only a couple of days old so we might just have to wait and see...

Salt will lay white or blue eggs and Pepper will lay brown. No idea on breeds, sorry ☹️
We were going to adopt a bonded pair of hens, one white and one black. My daughter wanted to name them Salt and Pepper, but of course the black one would be Salt…

Salt and Pepper are now approx. 12 weeks old. Look at the pretty green feathers that pepper has now. Last night they slept in the big coop with the other girls with out any squabbles and the Big girls have stopped chasing them around the chicken run. They still don't eat with them yet but they do come when I call them all in for the night after they have been running around the back yard.
