Our two favorite chickens, Buff the 17 week old orpington and Boots the eight week old salmon faverolle have succumbed to a mystery disease. the day before yesterday boots started pooping blood. She was very lethargic, but would still drink a lot. she showed no interest in food. We rushed to tractor supply store and got Corid and Wazine. Yesterday and the day before she and the other five eight week old chicks got 1 1/2 t of Corid in their gallon of water, and today we were going to give them some of the Wazine, but boots was really lethargic and at one point I walked over and saw one of the other chicks standing on her throat. I thought she was dead. she wasn't, and I took her out to hold her and give her some water, because at this point she wasn't drinking it on her own. However, as I sat down, she went into convulsions and stopped breathing. The same thing happened to Buff, except we noticed and started treating yesterday, and she just died half an hour ago. We really love our remaining eight chickens, and don't want the rest to die. right now, most of my siblings are crying. Does anyone know what this might be? I thought coccsidiosis, but it seems much faster than that.

Cocci can kill chicks pretty quick.
You may want to mix up a batch of Corid as follows and dose each remaining chick straight to the beak.
1/2 teaspoon of Corid mixed with 2 teaspoons of water...give each chick 4 drops to the mouth in addition to the "water mixture"
I would also advise you to mix 2 teaspoons per gallon of water instead of just 1 1/2

I forgot to mention- the corid is powder, not liquid, and I read that the liquid is 2, the powder is 1 1/2. I'll go give the chicks that. One of our 17 week chickens isn't doing great- she's had her mouth half open all day... earlier I wasn't worried cause its hot today, but at 7 she was still doing it...
