MYSTERY!! EGG!!! Could it be........?

The question that comes to mind for me is "how do you keep the owl away?" Obviously, it could become a problem, especially if it decides to make a nest somewhere else in the loft, and perhaps it hatches some out....well now it's looking for food....I would be trying to find a way to discourage it from coming into your coop if indeed it is an owl.

No chance it's just a double yolker from your guineas?

With that said, if it does get incubated and it's a chick, yay! If it turns out to be an owl or any other type of bird, it is up to the OP to decide what to do from that point.. Either call an avian wildlife rescue or try to raise it... Yes, it is illegal to posses such a bird and most of us wouldn't even attempt it.. But, those out there who take the chance, should be informed ahead of time...

I vote go for it! And if it turns out to be an Owl call around and get it to some place to take care of it. You don't know for sure it is an owl and if it is then just tell them you had no idea! It was in your coop, one would only thing it'd be a chicken egg!

Oh, I know, I was just disturbed by how many people were saying to go for it even if it was known to be an owl egg. But I still wouldn't incubate it without being certain of what it is, because wildlife rescue folk have overfull workloads without this sort of thing needlessly being added to it. It's these situations that spring up that make you wish you had a game camera, so you could settle it once and for all.
