What all does that mean exactly?

Internal pip: Chick Pierces Aircell, & takes first breath of air.

Shadowing: Touching the very edge of the aircell, working on trying to pierce it.

Here's one of the Red JungleFowl chicks.

Hatchery had a bad hatch, so no Saipans. My order ended up being short.

Some of the chicks that were included in my order look abit too fluffy for red JungleFowl chicks. Thinking Brown Leghorns, or Standard BB Red Old English Games were added since the hatch was poor.

The chicks in the eggs are still working on their internal pips. It's a race between the EEs, & Malays right now.

So you candle once in morning and later in evening? Do you take out all eggs at once or one at a time? I really appreciate you answering all my questions!

One at a time, over a few hours between each candling during lockdown.


Before lockdown, I candle 1-2 times a day, or every other day, which is morning, & night time. One egg at a time.

Thanks! Opening and closing incubator doesn’t mess with hatch rates? I am very hands-on so I would like to incubate/hatch like this too!

Hatch rates aren't affected.
