Smooth. All F1 Silkie crosses will be smooth feathered. The Silkie feather gene is recessive, so it would need 2 copies of the gene to have Silkie feathers.Do you know if it would have silkie feathers? Or smooth?

I was thinking that is how it worked, just not sure. So does that mean when you cross F1 silkie mix over silkie you get 50% smooth and 50% silkie? I really know nothing with genitics. But I would love to breed Silkied Cochin Bantams, so this is interesting.Smooth. All F1 Silkie crosses will be smooth feathered. Yes, you get half of each feather type. Along with that you can get 25% black skinned, 25% white skinned, & 25% patchy skinned offspring.I was thinking that is how it worked, just not sure.
