N.E. Chickenstock 2011!!!!!! Who's up for it??

The eggs will go for auction ( silent auction) the birds I think people are selling outright? Steph any ideas?

Gretchen I think the 50/50 idea is good to split the procedes with Steph for the cost and destruction that will happen while we are kindly visiting:) Im in.

As a matter o fact I'd like to start now with people who think they will be bringing eggs to auction-please PM me you info

Your full name and BYC name
how many eggs
what breed
LF/ bantam
lines-if you know it ( parent stock)
starting price

1.) Remember 1/2 will go to Steph who was wonderful enough to host this awesome time at her house!!!
2.) Please have ALL eggs marked as to what they are and label carton to match so we don't make a mistake:)
3.) When auction ends and you hear your name being announced please go to the egg booth and pay for the eggs you won:)
4.) I think it's only fair to accept cash and checks ( phone #s added please)
5.) Ill add this now before there are any questions like a BYC auction-there are no guarantees on hatchability-no refunds-oh and you break it you bought it:) LOL
6.) I will post with updates as far as who is bringing eggs so everyone will know ahead of time.

I'll start

1) SONEW123
6 Lav split eggs
12 olive eggs
6 possible frizzle eggs
6 blue EE eggs
6 green EE eggs
2.) NEXT????

Okay, maybe I'll have to coax Gretchen to bid on my behalf. There are eggs I wanna get, but if I can't make it...LOL, maybe I'll just do some behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing once I see what people are bringing. I'm looking for cochins...and wasn't someone bringing lionheads?

Sure you can-just have her put in your max bid on the eggs and drop in can assigned to those eggs. Its going to be a silent auction:)

yes mostly--silent auction is writing your name and bids on a visual piece of paper-everyone sees who you are and what you bid-but this way ( people put in the most they want to bid the first time and leave it at that:) no one can see the bids but me and jen in the end...

Ill volunteer for the egg auction??? Is this a fundraiser auction or auction for the sellers?? orrr 50/50 auction half donated half for seller? IDK never done it before:)

I volunteer to help her with the egg auction and maybe donate... but I cant guarantee I wont run away with all the eggs!

OK, I just want to make sure I have this straight.

Natalie is chairing the silent auction for eggs. Everyone bids the highest they would be willing to go for the eggs, drops the bid in a box and at the end, the highest bidder gets the eggs. Proceeds from the bid are split between seller and Steph.

We're not doing an auction for live birds, right? People are just selling them outright to other BYCers for the price they feel is fair and proceeds go to the seller.

Someone (JerseyGirl1, do you want to?) is going to organize the 50/50 raffle with the winner getting half the money and Steph getting the 2nd half. JerseyGirl1 already has the appropriate tickets for this event.

We're also in agreement to have a Chinese auction. So, we need a chairman to either bring (or arrange to get) chairs, tables, paper bags, tickets, solicit donations, etc. and set it up. People buy tickets at $1 each or 6 for $5, drop them into the bag associated with the item they want and at the end a ticket is picked out of each bag and winners announced. All proceeds go to Steph. Is this right?

This is so GOOD! I feel so much better knowing that Steph is going to get "donations" via the egg auction, 50/50 raffle, and Chinese auction to help defray expenses (and lawn repairs, I believe someone mentioned a while back!)

All my stuff is new this year, except a pair of mottled cochin and a few older hens that are for eating eggs (they have no rooster with them).

I might have a few couple of teenage chickies that I won't be keeping by then though.
