I hate craiglist flakes. The guy who was supposed to show up yesterday didn't. I let my first buyer know, so he might get some more. In the meantime, though I have 10 birds in the house (I pulled out the ones I'm willing to sell), and one of them is crowing like mad.

I managed to identify and leg band two more roosters this morning. That's three in the pen that I know are boys. Loudmouth is going away this weekend and so will at least one of the other boys. He starts crowing around 4-5 AM and just keeps going all day. I'm starting to see a few minor head wounds, so I definitely need to start culling roos.

Edit: I should probably take care of crooked neck this weekend too.

I just got my first egg out of the SSC pen!

I got two eggs out of the SSC pen today.

There should be a lot less crowing now. Vent sexing is surprisingly easy, or at least I hope it was! I have two SSC males left, one in each pen. The one in my mixed pen is sharing six hens with another roo, the one in the SSC only pen has 7 hens to himself. The poor guy only has one eye, but he's pretty.

The first picture is where I put them while I was cleaning their pen, the second is them back in their clean pen.

3 eggs today from these girls. That's a total of 9 today!
