Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Thanks hellbender, venting will be a priority since although im coastal now im not sure once I find a house. Relatives who live farther inland complain of no air flow. To me I see it more as how they build their houses. Walls on hottest sides no venting of rooftops nowhere for stale air to flow. Will really have to look into building materials ive got a few lumber places nearby but not anything like in states. Even something like ceiling fans I have yet to see here. Can find vented fans they use in kitchens and restaurants. Gypsum board is new here too. Only for stores not in homes yet.

The only thing they are deprived of is my grass and flowers! Sun, shade, roosts, etc is plentiful. Will be putting my grass clipping in with them.......as soon as I grow some more! LOL

Hatching chicks right now! They are golden Cuckoo Marans for a friend. She will be so excited because she ordered these eggs from California and we live in Georgia. 4 were totally smashed in the box and the box wasn't even dented, so we know they had rough shipping. They have severe saddle air sacs so I an hatching them sitting up in an egg carton....well, slightly tilted so the biggest 'dip' In the air sac faces me. Of her 12 eggs, 3 have already hatched and 5 more have pipped. Tonight officially starts day 21, so hopefully more will pip/hatch!

Flowerbh A friend needed to rehome her lemon cuckoo Marans rooster so I had him for a while. He was pretty and calm but noisy and became DINNER after I gave eggs to my friend to hatch out form her rooster. The other item about that rooster was that his toes which grew and looked normal while he was youger but later became real funky. Minus nails and stubby at the ends.

Just made adjustments in my birds run and they are annoyed over the change. And..............some of them are holding onto their eggs. HUMPH They will adjust soon enough since they have been adjusting to many changes over the years. A tractor supply store opened up about 30 miles away so I am about to drive over and see what they have in the way of feed and chicks. I have been pulling mustard weeds for the flock and they are delighted with them. Their door blew open the other day and I lost my sweet fresh lettuce seedings and some of the chard. rrrrrr

Mine love all this green grass this summer. However I am sure after this rain today my garden will start coming, then they will eat about half of that up.

Just wondering, would anyone be interested in fertile NN bantam x frizzle or silkie eggs? My two guys seen to be able to catch the 3 NN girls we have! I wanted to do a little project with my girls and incubate about 6 but can't find a small one to barrow.
I read a post about selling fertile eggs but I would give for cost of shipping!

I have a friend that may be interested i will tell her about it she has both silky and the frizzles, so she may be interested in doing it, Brenda loves trying new things, she is going to give me some frizzle BO cross babies soon, So I can't wait to see them. Me and her work together most of the time with our different breeds, so I will ask her, she wants more and more NN's.

Are the blacks born that way with black feet, legs, and skin???? Or did you do a mixing??
SOP nn, even black ones do not have fibro genetics (dark skin / flesh / bones / organs) They may have the darker legs not sure on that someone who knows SOP might know that. These birds are my special mix b/c I love the look of fibro, it is actually tasty too. It takes a little getting used to eating it,(visually) but it has a very subtly sweeter taste.
