Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I do have other chickens, besides Rudy, here's proof, lol

This boy so far is pretty even black / white ratio, w/ very splotchy patterning.

This girl I think is so pretty

This little boy is going to be small, has araucana father, I think his color is going to be striking, he hatched from a green egg, has a pea comb, and the pea comb/nn feather coverage.

I love this girls coloring

This boy also has araucana heritage and tufts!

Love this girls look

Is she going to be mottled?

Here is what I found this morning. I think all three are pullets, not sure I just have to try sexing them by the way they look.

This little girl looks like she is going to be a silver color. Looks to have the double naked neck gene.

The sun was just a bit bright. This girl is a soft blue color. She doesn't have the lacing like a blue (Andalusian type).

Little Lady number three. A black one, although she does have some brown look to her feathers here and there. Would this be called brown red?
She has a (I think it is called) gypsy face. The top of her head and her face are solid black.

Both the blue and black (brown red) have small bowties. I think that they would be carrying a double gene also.

The breeder that I got them from said that her trio has never produced a fully feather chick.

The parents were just a trio. The rooster I would call a duckwing (carrying both silver and gold), the hens in with him were solid black and a solid white. Can't figure out where the blue is coming in at.

Yeah that's called gypsy face, as for color.. brown red is a hobby name for gold birds in the birchen pattern. Birchen is used for both the gene and also the silver birds with this gene. Confusing I know.... even worse, sometimes brown reds are called gold birchens. Sigh. If the brown is present over most of the body, chances are she has the birchen gene.

what comb does that blue have? if pea, then she could be single dose NN.. the blue could have come from the white hen, just couldn't her genetic color(s) due to the white gene masking everything else she has.

Be a little careful about claims of never producing non NN.. for example a double dose rooster over a flock of entirely non-NN hens would produce 100% NN chicks. I've seen groups with some birds obviously single dose(or even some non NN) in both sexes and the owner claimed they never produced full feathers.. I just smile and nod..... stick with picking out chicks with no or tiny bowties and you should be good.

That's one of the most freakiest pics of a chicken I've seen! Cropping and copying the head/neck area and using as avatar probably would get a lot of attention lol

Gonna breed the tufted boy? that araucana roo managed to get some sneaky action after all!

They are in a covered run for protection from hawks and cats still, something got his attention on top of the roof "fence"

Yes, seems he was sneaky! lol He got at least 2 in the tufted and this one w/ the pic you like.

Lost Ashley yesterday and kept them all in the cage today while I was out. Hope by noon tomorrow to be done with the coop and then no more worries. Once I can get a place im going to get more NNs a turkey and some gunieas. Im hoping my two left will be one of each I got Emu and Vulture left. My two favorites gone.

I was out in the garden today most of the day. The chicks were having a great ol' time dust bathing en mass. There in the middle of the shenanigans was Rudy, standing tall, but pecking at everyones toes as they got partially covered by dirt and moved.
