Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Reba has been setting, the eggs should be ready wend, maybe a day or two late since it has been ridiculously cold, I have my fingers and toes crossed NOT to get a naked chick!!!! This spring I would like to hatch some, but do not want to have to juggle that through the winter.

Rudy his lady, and his bunnies have all been fine during this insane weather. We were ready w/ extra heat in case, but w/ his smaller coop, and coat and warm friends sharing the space he is making it just fine. We got 4 inches of snow yesterday, it has been 30's in the day and teens at night for a few nights now.

Coat stayed on and he's fine? amazing! is he still the dashing dancer? ;)

I have a question if someone could help me out... I was just given a Naked Neck by a couple of young kids that did not want her to go into the freezer.. And I know nothing about them I live in Maine and it gets cold out here.. How do I care for her.. heat light do I have to make a place for her inside the cellar... Can they survive a Maine winter? Is there a web site any one can recommend for me ... Thank you could use any information... Ann

Aww! Too bad the other one needs either Nair or a little bit of shaving...

Any one raising NN's going to do the New Years Day Hatch-A-Long?

I'm going to. Gonna gather as many NN eggs as possible to hatch. Since they aren't laying very well it probably won't be too many though. Going to get some mixed breed eggs from a local to hatch there is a NN rooster in the mix so maybe I'll get a couple NN's from that.

If you have other chickens and know how to care for them, treat the NN the same way. Good food, good shelter and plenty of fresh water.

I don't have NN's but I want to try to do hatch along.

I doubt I do the hatch a long, really don't like having such young birds in the worst of the winter, worry about power outages in our notorious ice storms. And I prefer the chicks outside, plus the chances of getting a naked one are the best I've had so far, I have both male and female carriers.

Oh I think I was actually answering Draye.

Yeah but if I do it it will more than likely just be 5 or less eggs.
