Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I would isolate and Blu-Kote very well once a day, provide PROBIOTICS excellent diet and keep the patient with plenty of fresh water...

I'd certainly kill the one causing the problem if that can be ascertained. These birds are tougher than many can comprehend. Keep the patients comfortable and away from additional stress.

Such woulds can heal to the point that the scars can't be seen unless one is looking for them.

It looks bad but basically is a skin tear and will heal quickly. Before assigning blame totally to her flockmates she might have injured herself w/ her head through the fence then w/ the injury there the others may have added. If they see red / blood / injury they will peck at it. In that location it could also be an insistant roo and a reluctant hen.

Clean the wound color it w/ blue kote or blue food dye in an antibiotic ointment. If you cannot camoflauge the color (red / blood) or if you are pretty sure the flock mates are harassing her isolate her, but be aware she will need to be reintroduced and if she already is having problems that might add to it.

Hope this pic works! This is ziggy - she is just 5 months old and this is what I woke to this morning! The others had started pecking at her but this is!!!!!

I had one like that. I washed it with peroxide and then applied Betadine to it once. The others never is led her again. It healed pretty fast to.

@Cathyge416 good advice from everyone, prevent further trauma, keep clean and dry, provide good diet etc Blue kote as by Kaussaundra suggested works good to prevent picking.

You must not know that "Hellbender" is..................well unique. Oh and may I compliment you on your good grammar etc

Phil66's grammar is better than passable but should not be considered inordinately so since English is spoken throughout the world.

flower, you and I have never really carried on any conversation yet you seem comfortable in labeling me with a multifaceted word. ah...no matter.

@flower, I realised that before. Always ready for joke. Without people like him, this thread would be boring.

Thanks! I always had B in English, but since I joined this forum I actually have A! So I have to thank you guys for that!

@hellbender I agree with that. In a few years the whole world will be talking only english.

A multifaceted word for a multifaceted individual? Not such a bad thing, in my opinion.
