Without going into a huge genetics explanation, I'll give you my probability. You only need one blue gene to get a blue egg. (no blue genes = white egg). If you add brown coating you either get brown or green.
White shell + brown coating = brown
Blue shell + brown coating = green
I have Turken hens laying green eggs. I know they got the blue egg gene from their moms since the moms are Ameraucanas and Legbars, both of which are supposed to have two blue eggs genes. They will pass the blue egg gene on to half of their chicks, so 50% of their chicks will lay blue/green eggs if the dad does not have blue genes.
The rooster I have is an Easter Egger and has at least one blue egg gene. If he has one blue gene half of his offspring will produce blue/green eggs. If he has two blue genes 100% of his off spring will lay blue/green eggs.
Combine the rooster with the turken hens and you are guaranteed at least 75% of the chicks having blue egg genes.
In addition, the dad to the turken hens was also an Olive egger that had one blue egg gene. If he passed that on to the hens they will produce 100% green egg layers.
In conclusion, you have 75 - 87.5% probability of each chick having blue egg genetics. They also have Marans in them, so the eggs will probably be darker green or olive. I don't keep any hens around here for breeding that aren't blue eggers or dark brown layers. The "regular" colored eggs get sold for eating.
I will post pics of the chicks as soon as they hatch.
The color of their eggs will be determined in about 6 months. I'm pretty sure they will be green.
I am going to breed green and dark eggers as well. I have a rumpless araucana and BCM cockerels. my NN pullets are really big. will my araucana be able to mate with them (almost double size)?
Yes she's a sweetie. My Blue Red #2 hen. Her mana and daddy both were a Blue Red. She also gad a sister that was I guess you'd call a Gold Birchen, but she got caught by a 'possum.
In the sane run with her is her half sister a white with a few black splotches by the same daddy but a white mama.
The search is on for another rooster, 'possum got my big red pea combed NN last night.
Hoping to located another NN but not holding out for much hope. May try to get a year old half Marans and half something else from my son-in-law. I know his stock it came FTP. Mine. They run with a neighbor of his red part game hen. Just going to borrow him until after my Hanuary hatch. I should have done mature cockerels by the time I need a rooster for tge Easter Hatch.
Nice eggs! Are you going to have a mixed pea and single combed flock that happens to be all pure for the O gene? The genetic geek in me would find that delightful!

I thought about adding Marans to my NN but I really don't want to have to deal with breeding out feather legs. I'd love to see a darker brien egg though. Not Marans dark but a nice solid brown and not the light brown pinkish to cream brown eggs that move are laying. I've even got one that lays a white eggs. I just haven't quite figured out which one lays it, but really not that important it's an egg and it cooks just like the rest.
I have 2 of the chicks that hatched this last time they'll be 3 weeks old Thursday the 8th, that were from Welsummer eggs. The sire was my pea combed red rooster that hatched from a green egg, but he was only 1/4 Easter Egger, so not sure if the blue egg gene pasted on to him.
I was not impressed with these Welsummers they were going into a molt when I purchased them. Had them for 2 months and only started laying again ( eggs were kind of in the small side) right before I set he incubator. I managed to get 6 eggs from 10 hens. All eggs hatched from them but only 2 ended up with naked necks so they were all I kept.
The sire was the last one that I lost night before last so these two are the only offspring I have from him. They are looking like pullets, and both have single combs. So not really expecting any green eggs from these two.
I still have the one green egg layer and have several 6 to 8 chicks that hatched from this hen and one other that laid the green egg also. I'm not really sure green/blue eggs will be something that I'm going to peruse, but I will continue to hatch them when I get them. Just marking them separate and if I do I'll be going back to an Ameraucana sire for them at a later date.
My main goal right now are the Mottled Partridge and the Aloha lines. Trying to combine them Into a Calico Naked Neck. The others are mainly for genetic diversity and color diversity. Not really sure how all this wheaten that my flock has will work with their tiling gene, but guess I'll find out when the time comes to breed them in.
Another thing is adding the EE blood. How long will that take to breed out the beard gene. I do like beards on my EE's but I don't care much for them on the NN.

Hmm! The welsumers I had laid good size eggs. Not huge but not so small. They laid interesting color eggs- either like the terra cotta pots or an unusual shade of red.. many also had dark spots. The problem was they had very poor heat tolerance.. the roosters would drop dead from heat stroke when it got hot.. pullets did fine but some of the older hens did have problems with the heat.. had to give up on the breed.
Beard is pretty easy to get rid of- it's dominant so once you don't see it, it's totally gone. One way to tell on NN if they have beard gene or not is if their wattles are really small, but this works best on single combs because pea combs also reduce the wattles.. usually you can reasonably tell which ones have beards even if pea combed by checking the feathers on their faces.
