Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I'll try to get pictures tomorrow. May be awhile getting them, I have 35 to go through to find it.
The daddy was a Blue Red NN ( or whatever color you want to call him. The hens all came from EE mamas ( so they were 1/2 EE) so very well could have carried the Duckwing patterning gene ( both gold and silver in the flock). There may be another name for the pattern they had but I was told it was a Duckwing pattern. They had that classic gold coloring of a lot if EE's. Also had some that were the color of the silver leghorn with the salmon breasts.

Blue red as in solid blue body with red only on back? No red duckwing patch on the secondaries? If so that's the right name for it and breeding him over EE like you describe will throw lots of chicks that start out black or blue and get varying degrees of red or white at different ages.

The very last hen you mention exactly matches a true silver duckwing hen. Salmon breasts on hens is the ultimate proof she is duckwing and these will help you get red, silver and/or salmon duckwings down the line.

I'd be a little concerned if they're freaking out that bad, would suspect there was something else.. unless that cat was charging and making grabby motions at them?

That's what I'm thinking happened. I originally thought a hawk made a pass in the area, but then I caught the cat slinking around and chased him away. I've seen cats around the coops before (they hunt the wild birds that like that tree), the chickens react but not that strongly, so I am totally in agreement with you. Although all chicken housing is predator safe, I'm planning to put up electric fencing around their "compound". It's worth the good night's sleep...

You got it on the rooster. I was originally calling him Blue Copper, but changed to Blue Red when you told me about hobby name. Blue Red describes this coloration much better tha blue copper.

I'll still try to get pictures.

My new chick has some brothers tonight. A friend gave me two chicks just hatched out they are both boys they are crele Penedesenca. I really didn't care what breed Parrot just needed some chicken siblings.

Congratulations. They will add you some darker brown eggs into your flock. That is of you keep them.

I've decided to keep a few more of my cockerels Thani originally planned, cause I'm having the predator problem. I caught one of the bas******, last night.

One of my coworkers got all upset with me the other day because I mentioned we were doing coyote control after we lost one of our cats. She was trying to convince me the predators deserve to be there. Yes, they can be here if they want to eat wild bunnies, birds, rats and other berries. When they mess with my cats or chickens they've crossed the line. I do respect birds of prey just because I love all birds. However, the furry-chicken-eating mammals are not welcome. I guess I'll have to be careful who I talk to about offing critters on the weekends.

For some reason I don't have opossum problems. I find them sleeping in the nest boxes on occasion, but they have never bothered the chickens. Now if I could just get rid of this rat that is pooping in the corner nest...

@Kev

Okay here's a color for you.
Hatched out and looked black but you could see stripes in then like tge yellow chipmunk ones only they have black feathers instead of yellow.

They've still got that coloring bout have gold streaks throughout the down. Not quite but close tuba partridge color. Is this Gold Burchrn?

I couldn't find that chick I was talking about but I think the one I'm talking about is miw developing a partridge color.

Also have a couple chicks that were hatched blue but are developing the gold mottling (i don't think this is really mottling but don't know how else to call it, maybe flecks), could this be Blue Gold Duckwing?

Here are a couple that have that gold showing up in them.

These two pictures are tge same chick. Not sure how well that gold is showing up in the pictures.
