Naked Neck/Turken Thread

@ochochicas Beautiful! What color were parents?
The dad is a blue partridge Easter Egger. The moms are duckwing (golden duckwing I believe). One is half crested cream legbar, and the other is half blue ameraucana. They look identical in color, but one has a crest and a floppy comb while the other has a pea comb and no crest.

This is the legbar momma when she was a pullet:

Photo of my "Puppy" - do you think the white accents might mean mottling? I'm off to get weights. Wish me luck - they're getting to be a handful!!!!! - Ant Farm
I don't want to bet for no mottling gene, but I had two rooster this year that had this coloring as cockreles, but they feathered out buff with black tails

I got a chick like that once, it wasn't a NN though just a cross breed. Had that mottled look to it, but feathered out pure buff. But if it helps I'll try to keep my fingers crossed for it to really be mottled. Haha.

I'm desperately seeking about 6 turken pullets. Anyone have any idea where I could get a few this time of year? I'm in Indiana and would drive a bit to pick up. They don't need to be started. I'm looking for youngish ones. TIA

Sorry I don't know of anyone who had very much fir sake right now. Especially in my location of the country. Seems like the only ones who have Turkens are collectors. They buy up any that become available at auctions and you never see them again. Seems like even the roosters disappear, but I think we have buyers that snatch up every rooster they can for as cheap as possible and make a quick buck on a quick turn around.

I'll try to keep my eyes open.

Thanks!
I'm kicking myself now because i saw an ad in early summer for Turken chicks for $3 each, right near where I live. I hadn't decided then which way I wanted to go, and missed the opportunity.

I keep turken! But my girls are all molting.. My double dose hen is nearly done so should resume laying soon. Will holler when I know she resumes laying.

If you haven't done so already, keep the newcomer close to the flock you want her to become part of for a few days in an area where they can visit one another through a barrier. My birds all socialized with one another on opposite sides of a mesh barrier separating pens or the pen from the outdoors before I allowed them to interact directly. And while I've heard that introducing them at night is better, I've experienced just the opposite here. Mine have all integrated better via careful introductions made in the daytime...but mine also free-range so there's plenty of "escape" space for the newbie.

Good luck!
they have been next to each other for about 2 months, only a wire is between them, but my roos are not gentle and my golden comets and isa browns are mean. I will wait for a month (they are about 5 mo), they might fight back if they are bigger.
