Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Posting some better pics of the turkens. Even though everyone on the general thread thinks that they are roos, would like to get your expert opinion. Prety sure the larger less red one is a roo (and confirmed by one here) so it is the smaller more red one that I am wanting confirmed if possible. They are three months old from McMurray hatchery.

Mine are 18 weeks old today, and so seeing my boys vs. girls at this age every day is not too distant. For what it's worth, he definitely looks like a boy to me...

It is with a heavy heart I make this announcement. Rudy the rudester has died. He wasn't sick or unwell acting, his death was sudden and unexpected and did not involve trauma. His life was as full as any rooster could expect, he got to live his life w/ the sun on his face and w/ his own flock of adoring flockmates both chicken and rabbit. He will be missed.

RIP Rudy

we all loved you!

Recieved my Murray McMurray catalog today.

I think Cackle is mailing theirs out today. So probably in a couple of days I'll get theirs too.

Some feel good pics after my week. The trouble is of all 5 chicks I think all 5 are boys. One of the red ones has a comb that says "I might be a girl" but his legs say "Just call me Caitlyn"

The pics are a little fuzzy, I got to close to get a good sharp focus.

That one is the small one, it is a penedesenca crele color, I think the lighter ones at hatch are male. That is why I was thinking male even though that one has a small (for now) comb.

I'm not that familiar either, I got a couple of day olds from a friend as companions for a single chick abandoned at hatch by her broody mom, when I chose the chicks from the friend she offered both male or female, she was wanting the females for the dark eggs and I just needed companions gender didn't matter I took a couple of her males. I lost one and have one left, they are SUPER flighty, at least the one I have is. They are pretty enough, but doubt I have a place in my flock for the genetics, I'm already fighting against the small size I already have don't need to add to that fight. They aren't bantams or anything like that, but they aren't overly meaty either, and I don't care much about super dark egg shells, not enough to add small size genetics to the flock.

Really sorry about Rudy.

In early summer 2016, I'm gonna' cross some NNs with White Chanteclers AND Dark Cornish. Will likely cross the get as well.

I used to have good sized NNs but was talked into selling them off. This 'project' should produce some 10/12 pound intact birds. I intend for all my birds to be cushion of pea combed...except for the renewed SOP white NNs project that has been resurrected.
