Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I am not really keen on barred chickens but when I saw black and white barred NN I decided if I ever find one I must have it. I think it is their neck that interrupt the boring pattern (boring is my personal opinion, no offense). if there are other colours together with barred I like it. I have a pullet who has patches of buff and patches of black and white barred. her name is bella (beautiful in italian) - just to explain how much I like her.

don't they fight when the girls are on the other side of the wire? and do they all crow when in the same coop?

I was thinking to keep the boys together but my 3 runs are next to each other.

So far they haven't fought over the girls. From time to time they'll trample one another a bit, but there really haven't been any serious fights. Maybe it's because they're still so young, or because they were all raised together. I'm not sure....

As far as crowing....yeah....they're all starting to crow. It sounds like I have a bunch of first graders playing their kazoos to different songs. I love hearing their different "voices" though.

well, raised together is another thing. my crazy boys are fighting through the wire, lol. 2 of them have had blood on their combs from fighting.

my neighbour (an old lady) seems to be angry with me but didn't say anything. the fact is my boys compete in crowing day and night. I am giving away 2 of them before I get in trouble.

Yeah...I'm surprised my neighbors haven't tried butchering some of my boys when I'm at work. I have these 17 cockerels, plus eight roosters right now. When they start crowing against one another it can get pretty noisy, but luckily it doesn't happen too often. I have one rooster that I think is a Dorking/Polish cross and has this horrible, shrill crow. I'm thinking of culling him because he crows so much compared to the others, but I've kept him because of his nice breast meat developing and unique, buttercup comb. I thought he would be fun as part of a breeding project, but I'm rethinking it. His name is "Q" for question because I had no idea what he was for the longest time. This is him when he was younger:

LOL! I know, right? But it's a whole lot quieter around here than you might expect. One of my neighbors who kept chickens for years walked over this past weekend and was shocked to find out I still have so many boys because they so rarely hear them. They honestly thought I'd never get a moment's peace when I told them I was going to have four and simply can't get over how well everyone gets along.
