Naked Neck/Turken Thread

did you try to grow sunflowers from the seeds? a feed store on my island just brought boss and my chickens love it. I am thinking to plant some seeds near the fence so it will not me disturb at all and I might get some seeds for free.
I have grown sunflowers from seeds. I works wellif you have enough space. I am waiting to see how many plants grow from seeds that have been naturally dispersed by the wind.

There really are. We have some areas around here packed full of saguaros...those iconic cacti most people are familiar with. This is about a 40 minute drive from my house.

Phil those cactii grow only at a certain altitude and latitude. I live in northern Arizona where the mountains are higher and greener. When we drive south 100miles/?K you can see saguaros rising up on the horizon. I am always delighted to see them especially at dawn and dusk when the are silhouetted and make me feel like I am on a different planet

The neighborhood birds get their share but there is plenty left for the flock. These plants grow all over N AZ

I am fascinated by the saguaro and most of the hardy desert area plants.

The desert definitely has a beauty all its own. And pretty much everything out here is trying to kill you. Nearly every plant in the desert has spikes or thorns or is poisonous. The very earth out here has killed people and pets because of a spore that leads to a disease called "Valley Fever". It's a very hostile environment, but I absolutely love it.

Didn't know about that bad side. Love it still and always will love. I am not really a person who likes to travel, but I want to see just the desert. That is the only thing that would make me want to travel.

It has been raining the whole day today, and that is not the problem. My chickens spent whole day outside and free ranging. There are lots of eartworms so they catch them. Problem is that they are soaking wet. I am afraid that they could catch a cold. Should I close them?!?

so we are not learning about chickens only! great information, I didn't have any idea about living in desert. but I do love hot climate.

gardening is my other interest. I am fighting the heat but hope to have some vegetables this year.
