Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I just hatched or should I say my broody just hatched out 9 chicks 2 of them were NN. These little ones are NN/BR mixes. I sure hope they are both girls cause I want to keep them. Right now I just have the 2 mommas and I love them.

I have a little barred NN also - will have to get a pic. Mine is definitely a 'she' - I'd have to count back to see how old they are but I think roughly 12 weeks. The roos were obvious pretty early!

Seems most of my NN (from two different people) are buff colored. One barred, one black and one in between (buff/black).

If you go by Barred standards those two lil NN's look like boys!

Typically, Barred Rock male over non-barred hens will make all barred offspring (with head-spot).
And again generally speaking, larger head-spot are male, smaller head-spot are female.

I just now moved this weeks chicks from hatcher to brooder. I have a few chicks that need *rescuing* from the shell --- still working on getting humidity in the "Beast" just right.

i hatched an egg from a dominique roo over ee hen- the chick had all the looks of a female chick- but ended up being a roo - a very pretty one.

OK, remember I had posted the other day about hatching an NN under my silkie mom....I did not get a picture of this little one yet because I don't know if this little one will make it or not. It seems like part of his insides are protruding out of his backend. He is still hanging in there, alert and eating for me. I have him and mom secluded from the rest of the flock. I cleaned him up with hibicleanse soap, and put antibiotic ointment on him and there was some blood when I did clean the area. Any other suggestions? I never had a chick like this before so any other suggestions are appreciated!!! Also, there were no protrusions when he first hatched but I did notice his backend seemed extremely soft and squishy like. Sorry don't know how else to describe it.
