Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Chickgrowerdan....I haven't cracked any open yet, but I think they will be as they are so large. I will let you know.

All these chick pics. are making me want to hatch some more....

I've mostly been hatching from a mixed pen lately, too. My birds in the breeding pens quit laying, but some of the girls in the big mixed pen were still laying a few. Those eggs are usually 'table eggs' but I thought "what the heck, most of the roosters are Naked Necks, so the chicks could be also" and started setting them.

Awww Dan, they are darlings and should make nice big birds. I''ve got Light Brahma eggs coming this weekend to add (one day) to a NN line here.

Good luck with the hatches! I've got some in the hatcher now on Day 19.

Good Morning all!
Lots of cute NN's and the size of that egg is huge!
I am having a problem with one of my Turken girls and I can't figure out what is wrong with her. The only symptoms are sluggishness and just standing around puffed out.
I had her confined for the past 2 days to be able to keep a better eye on her and she hasn't laid an egg in that time. But her belly isn't swollen, no respiratory symptoms, her appetite is still good, no signs of mites, lice or worms. No obvious injuries and not limping or anything.
I am giving her vitamins and an antibiotic in her water as a just in case and supplementing her with scrambled eggs for extra protein. The only thing I can tell is her feathering is less full than her sisters. Maybe it is like a delayed response from coming back from molt?? She isn't molting right now.
Any ideas, please send them my way because I am at a loss as to what is going on with her!!

I have eggs due to hatch in 8 days but I am not sure of exactly what is in there since one of my pens is mixed. It is exciting.

Do you have any bantam Ameraucana's? I'm still working on my small coop run. Although the coop is a tiny 4 x 4 with nest boxes on the back, the run will be big. I'm thinking I'll get a couple of lavender NN's from RHRancher and was hoping for some bantam blue Ameraucana's. Pullets only :plbb

Only one Bantam Am and she is black but not laying since short days, besides her rooster is Victor. She will be the start of my Black/skinned NN/EEs. Do a search for "Noisy Chicken". She lives up near me and is always adding new birds and is a good source for information because she has lots of contacts and breeds and sells a lot.

I also want more bantams but since we are getting the LF blue and splash NN, I want to wait or just incubate some of my own eggs. Really my goal is to have bantam NN/EEs like Dispy has in LF. But I wanted to add here that Cloverleaf Farms in OR would be my source for BBS Ams hatching eggs, maybe later.

OOps I thought we were on the Sandy Eggo thread.
