Close up pictures of combs can be misleading... I think they all look like roos in those pictures! So if I were you... I wouldn't worry about it just yet :)

that's why I said I Think not I Know.

but it is still too young to tell, could be a pullet , don't worry to much.

Please know that I wasn't questioning your expertise on this matter and certainly didn't mean to offend. I was merely adding my 2 cents is all - I think the camera distorts closeup shots is all making it really hard to tell from a photo :)

I know, I was just clarifying my self too, no offense taken

Josh................ I AM confused ! To me the pied is the grey and white bird. But what is the brown mahogany and white bird in chickgrowerdan pictures please ?

i need to say to Nava and others that not all of my chicks have a rose or pea comb. The little black chick of about four months has a single comb. But all of them are so SWEET AND HEALTHY AND PRETTY. Thanks Nava !

Nava: I'm not counting roos before they crow. I am still hoping I got a pullet. I know it can take a while to know for sure what you have when you get straight run chicks. That picture was zoomed in and cropped too as well as being from my camera phone so the quality isn't the best. I'll make sure to post pictures as it grows.

I love the rose comb, but I think that if I ever wanted to try and have the APA recognice the color of my BLRNN I will need them to have single combs, and that's why I'm gladd I also have others with single combs.

I think we need more colors recogniced than the Buff,Red,White and Black ( how about some Splash,BLRNN and others too.)

While I respect the APA and the work that they do, I am not interested in breeding to their standard in the comb department. I just prefer a pea or rose comb. Yes of course there are so many different colors that are beautiful so why be limited to only three.
