Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Better to have been named after my old man (well JUST about!), I think.

2 of my NN's made there way in a howling gail and rainstorm to their coop last night for the first time ,Mort....looks like Mortimer rather than Morticia and Frank (N Stein). The Brahmas found the nearest coop too, the one set aside for the Naked Necks, and the NN's slept propped up against the big boys on the floor (The Brahmas couldn't perch in that pen as they are too tall).

The postie saw the NN's yesterday and said...."What is THAT????" pointing at Mort

so I am becoming progressively more pleased with my purchases!

Showgirl have been crossed by silkies and turken but that isnt just how you get showgirls either you have to breed all the red combs out, the white skin, and get the 5th toe to there has been a lot of work to get this breed. Not only that but they are still throwing single red combs after all the years put into this breed

That's what I thought, but I just wanted to be sure! I thought about starting my own line of red showgirls but I was afraid I was looking at it wrong.

i have a rescue silkie that has a red comb i first thought he was a mix but the only problem is his red comb,hes not pretty to any one but me hes aladies man.

Slightly ashamed to say I don't have much to post, but does anyone have any pics. of their NNs before I forget that this thread exists?

I'm new to this breed and am trying desperately to decide what sex my three are. I'm more than happy to post pics.(YES more than happy) if anyone can tell me.

Mort. I'm pretty sure is a Mortimer and not Morticia....bigger, comb much better developed, face going very red, think I see some greenish tinge on his saddle region. Treacle is a girl, I think.....smaller, black face, almost no comb. Frankie.......unsure as to whether s(he) is Frances or Francis (N Stein). (S)he is slightly smaller than Mort, but bigger than Treacle, has developed a bow tie, has a bit of a comb, reddish face.....but unsure.

But....can we have some pics. of someone's NNs?

Dipsy Doodle Doo-----You have some really gorgeous birds! I have never liked turkens whatsoever, just checked out the thread out of curiosity. But your NN's are so beautiful, I would love to have some that looked that good!

Lost all my birds (including my sweet NN that loved being held and petted) back in the early spring when I was in Hawaii. Something tore into the pen and killed everything. I've recently gotten back onto BYC and am itching for birds again. If I can get a coop built this fall/winter out of hardware cloth rather than chicken wire (I also have put up a chainlink fence, so that should help), some of you with bantam turkens are going to have to help me find a few chicks to start with in early spring!
