No it is not a DQ. My guess would be that smaller the better. And if the bow tie is hugh, well then it depends on other qualities and the judge. It is difficult to find NN pure for no bow tie because both female and male would require two copies each of NN.

Have you done searches for the SOP stand of perfection of NNs ?

what flower said. the majority of NN have bowties, even those pure for the naked neck gene. The ones pure for NN have a small bowtie with feathers you could count on the bowtie plus a clear naked areas below the bowtie.

the extra gene or ??? that totally removes the bowtie is not very common and hard to find. I have it in some lines, seems to be recessive gene.

It's the ones that have more like a bib with lots of feathers that completely cover up front of neck and you cannot see any naked areas below it very easily that are possible DQ.

Brian has very nice colors : ) my parents just picked up my NN's I will try to post pics when they get hear
