Naked Neck/Turken Thread

oops-hubby. snapped a photo of the chickens above this eve at the farm. Not only would they not stand still but the wind was-as usual-howling. This is my NN pullet-for quite some time I thought she was dirty but she actually has some buff shading on her shoulders. behind her is my nn frizzle roo-he is ugly as sin but a great gentleman. In front of her is a youngster by the roo-naked neck buff frizzle. Hubby says "you have the ugliest flock of chickens I have ever seen."

whatever.

That's funny! I hear that so often from just about everyone that sees my NN flock as well as my new showgirl. I also have frizzle sizzles...I think you have a beautiful flock there! I really need to post new picks of the youngins. My NNs are doing great at about 6wks but still can only tell one boy in the bunch! Driving me bonkers!

I like to think of my NNs and other weird looking chickens as adorably ugly! I love the unusual, too. I like to be able to tell my chickens apart. I have just one chicken of many different breeds. They all have names and they all have their own nameplate on the side of the coop! They are my pets, hobby, and they keep me happy. (All my children and grandchildren live in other states, so this is a great way to keep my maternal instincts going! Right?!?) I have 34 eggs in the bator and 6 under my silkie broody. So, I get to play with babies all day....so what if they aren't human!

Hooray for new chicks and new layers!!!!

Had some more cuties hatch this week, 76 chicks total.

11 are Naked Neck : )

OMG!!!! What a lot of babies! What are you going to do will all that cuteness????? How do you advertise the non NN ones? I still am not sure what to call them. Mine are all about 12 weeks old now. How early do your pullets begin to lay eggs? I figured they will start maybe end of June at the earliest (21 weeks?) or July. Can't wait for those beautiful green eggs! Lisa, your babies are also so cute! I'm so glad I got eggs from you...such great birds!

Thanks, thanks! I couldn't say exactly how old they are when they start laying. I *think* it must be around normal time --- whenever that is ; )
I just call them Green-Eggers or Frizzle Green-Eggers or whatever they happen to be.
