Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I don't know I'm still trying to figure out what color my NN pullet is... She's just going through her 17 week molt and developing SPOTS! She's always been dark in color with a large whiteish/ blue splotch on her butt, but now she's getting white tips to her feathers that look like spots on her breast and legs O.o

Could she be mottled? Mottled often start out either don't have much white or are 'penguin marked'- back is solid colored with breast a solid white. When they are getting close to maturity, the mottling (white tips to feathers) eventually start to show up.

**PIC HEAVY**

In other news, I managed to get more pics of Herman and Winston yesterday, but they were being flighty again so I could only get them by tossing them in an empty brooder tub, so the pics still aren't great. Hopefully they are a bit more helpful than head shots, though.

That's roo feathering starting to show on Herman. His wing bow area, back and saddles will have lots of that color when fully mature.

I am now thinking Winston is a boy with those new pictures... he's molting out to a Columbian color pattern(light body with black tail and neck like light brahmas). He is showing some barring on a few feathers so there's a chance he may be Delaware pattern- columbian with barring added but more likely it's youth type barring and will disappear later on.

Both are handsome birds.

Here is my favorite F1 frizzle polish X naked neck cross.I also have posted pics of the parents.

I guess she could be she didn't have any white on her before tho, she just had a blue butt, kinda whitish but more blue, in the shape of a blob on her backside under her vent. No white on her chest or head just that one spot. She's the runt of the group VERY SMALL, worried about that.
How many weeks till you can tell if your girls will be good layers or not? Mine are getting big except her.
Oh and cause of her spots her name is now FLOWER. I know how original :D

We have 4 total. I thought they were silver but perhaps now I know they are blue lol. The size and color of comb and wattles led me to think I had one hen and one rooster of each color. I thought the blue one pictured above was a rooster but perhaps I have them backwards (I've been known to do that! lol) I will have to try to get a picture of them side by side :-)

No the the non frizzles did not have this type of crest.Yes I am syked about having a mottled naked neck.Just need to find me a game hen that is mottled and single combed. The other hen was pea comb and did not like the combs on the resulting offspring.

None of the other cresteds had the crest only, withithout any "normal" feathers lying down on top of head? She sure seems to have literally only crested feathers on top of head.

was the problem combs looking like chewed up bubble gums? Pea comb is very easy to get rid from a line- breed the best one to a single comb and half of the chicks will be single combed. Use those only and the funky combs will not show up again
