Great try at an answer- frizzle is (incomplete) dominant. So what's the answer to frizzle x turken?

Here is what I got with 6 of those crossed eggs:

3 plain feathered NN
1 frizzled NN
1 frizzled non NN
1 plain feathered non NN

Something else about my breeding practices. While I have never even been to a poultry show

and despite the fact that my birds are a bit larger than the SOP, I still keep the standard in mind

when choosing what birds to use in the breeding pens. My goal is high production with extra large

and even jumbo eggs, the SOP is a pretty good blueprint to begin with. The birds need correct

conformation to be able to meet my minimum expectations and beyond that I tweek things as

I go along and feel that I've got it going in the right direction. But breeding high production

poultry is a never ending effort. My feeding program would likely freak some folks out but

I will say that their concentrate is about 5% diatomaceous earth. This works well to reduce

internal parasites (you all know that) and they have dusting stations with the same stuff.

know me a little better! lol

Not really a big place, ShayBaby, unless you were to flatten it out. It would then be bigger than Texas..lol

I live in the central highlands...Randolph county.

Are you near Blackwater Falls ? Nice in that area anyway. I used to live in Mannington, Marian Co. Too many gas and coal problems there. Most of the state is pretty though but who would want to flatten it out, especially since it is falling down by itself anyway. I have a mixed flock for my own food and amusement. Many here on this wonderfully intelligent and friendly "spot" like to have fun mixing up our birds to find new and interesting looks.

Flower, I live about an hour from Blackwater Falls. The part about flattening the mountains was joking.

Not sure what you mean about the state falling down, not sure I want to know.

I do not depend on my birds for a living or I would starve to death. This is a glorified hobby for me too,

especially since I've retired. Also I eat a LOT of chicken but can't stomach those fast growing

broilers sold in the markets. They are totally tasteless to me!

I 'mix up' my birds too, with little regard to the color but surprisingly, I get a lot of very colorful

turkens and hybrids. Marion county and those surrounding it are developed far too much

for me to live around there. They do have their rural areas but just too many people for me.

i was just wondering, how many roosters could you keep in your flock with four hens? is it possible to keep three roo's without penning any of them? im pretty certain i can tell that i have at least three roosters and four pullets(for now).
