Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Flower.....My favorite are the white showgirls. I just think the white fluff against that dark skin is striking. Although I am starting to like the nice buffs too.

Hellbender...I have the non-bearded showgirls and the roos tend to have more junk on their face than the bearded but working on it. Tom and Dandelion are 16th generation and I have some 18th generation youngsters coming up.

Kassaundra : do you have or know the Average gram weight for NN mixes hatch to laying -- Pullets and Cockerel. I've been looking and can not find anything.

???? Any mix of any kind will be all over the place for weight depending on the mix. I don't know grams just lbs and ozs

I was meaning I don't know metric measures. There still is no "average" weight of any mixes, just depends on what is mixed w/ what and it gets even more confusing if the parents themselves are mixes, and what genes are inherited or not from each parent, and if they are from hatchery stock or from breeder or show lines or, or, or, or ...........

surely there someone kept records or has a starting point :

Example :

Chick # 213 @ hatched 1/4 oz ---

Chick # 213 @ 1 week 1lb 2oz ---

Chick # 213 @ 8 week 3 lb 9oz ---

Chick # 213 @ 21 week 7lb 8oz ---

JUST an EXAMPLE any resemblance to Living or Dead chickens are Purely luck.

Conformation: The Naked Neck trait can be passed on to any breed of chicken, so particular attention to specific color patterns and type is important to distinguish from crossbreeds. Naked Necks are recognized in Red, Buff, Black and White. Barred Necked Necks are also available. They are a moderately-sized and shaped breed with a Single Comb. Naked Necks have less than half the feathers than other breeds of the same size. The bare patches on their skin lack feathers as well as feather follicles and the chicks hatch with the bare patches of skin already present. Standard weights are: Cock: 8 ½ lbs., Cockerel: 7 ½ lbs, Hen: 6 ½ lbs., Pullet: 5 ½ lbs.
