Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I haven't been around for awhile but finally got caught up. Beautiful birds posted lately, everyone!
Congrats to those with NN new year babies! I was a part of that hatchalong, but not a single one of my 16 hatched sadly.
DDD, I think I've mentioned before..or at least meant to lol..I'd love some of your DipsyGoth eggs or chicks if you sell any this year, too. Heck, even some of your NNs. :love
Hope everyone's birds are handling the weather well! It's about 13 degrees in the coop here tonight with one lamp on, but the forecast for Monday night..they're predicting the coldest temps in 20 years. We're looking at -5 at the very highest (possibly down to -40!!) with strong, cold winds. We're actually going to bring the entire flock (roughly 30 bantams and 5 LF) inside to the spare/chick room for the night, and making sure everyone else outside (dogs, horses, ducks, goat, pig..) are battened down tight and warm as possible. Brrrrrrrh.

It was 80F during the day yesterday and today. Nights are pretty cold though! 41F at midnight, shiver...

NN are fine, of course. ;)

I'll trade you a 41F for a minus 2 this morning. Gonna' get warm..er today and Sunday but down to minus 15 or lower on Monday might...

EDIT : I wouldn't trade even one sunny summer West Virginia day for any season in Cal.

The temperature outside is about 7 degrees probably around -5 to -10 with wind chill, all you hear on the news is how cold it is.. I don't think it's that cold to me and my NN's are fine also.. Guess the both of us are cold hardy.
Interesting we had -4 with wind chill and my NN roo Ed spent much of the day inside his house, lol I hope he came out to eat sometime during the day but i never saw him out.

My birds will hit the snow by about 9:30 or 10 AM. I won't open the doors 'til then, giving them all time to lay. They will head straight the goat's loafing area...no snow to speak of and plenty of σκατά to pick through...

and you're down at the opposite end of Ohio! We have -10 as our absolute coldest it should be. I'm letting my birds go to the test. I just cleaned all of the coop out and put lots of shavings.

No trade!!! Born and bred so. Calif boy.. below 65 is WAY too cold.. have to put pants on, sheesh!(wait that did not sound right..) Would love to visit the East sometime- only time I crossed the 'big river' was to Florida and the Keys.

And what's that white stuff in your picture?

I will say that's a very scenic picture- the building with the hills in background. Most of our few hills around here are full of granite boulders.

Kassaundra- your ice picture galleries gave me the willies.. pretty but so cold!

It amazes me NN really are living and doing just fine in all those super cold areas.
