Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Took these pics today. He started out as a black tailed red.Now he is changing colors.Getting more white on him everyday.I was told this could be vitilgo, rare in chickens.
Interesting, here is a short article about vitiligo in chickens, it is from the human study point of view, but thought you might be interested in the three comparison pics.

And here is one more, no pics but easier to understand what is going on w/ vitiligo, though again written from the human reseach standpoint.

Thanks for the links Kassaundra.Interesting to see how this guy feathers out.I am going to do a test cross with a mottled hen to see if he is mottled.

My NN pullet is broody! YAY! She only has 1 egg under her though mabey she will get some more I'm wanting to use her offspring to breed with my serama cockerel.

I'm tired (actually JEALOUS) of seeing such tidy, clean and well-cared for looking chickens.

It has rained pretty well non-stop for 5 weeks here. SO......Arian would like to wish you all a filthy, straggly, muddy New Year.

As bedraggled as your little chicken looks, I would take bedraggled chickens for some rain, we are in the middle of an "exceptional" or "extreme" drought depending on what area of the state we are in. But it is raining today!!!! woo hoo rain and not ice.

My silkies are the worst for the wet/snow. My NNs are all clean and dry. I have to put my silkies in during the winter, as they will stand out in the rain & snow and look terrible.

Not my NNs!

You can have my snow, I'll take your rain ;)
