Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I went from 22 eggs a day on average to 3-5 because mine are molting. It looks like a feather pillow blew up in my coop. I think they are preparing for winter by molting now.

I had wondered about them molting but for 2 weeks no eggs and no sign of molting until today! PILLOW FIGHT! LOL! So my brown leghorn and my Polish are minus a pile of feathers. It makes me feel better knowing it is just molting. I will probably go ahead and worm them at this point since they are not going to be laying for a while.

A few pics of the chicks and the teens
Wonderful pics.

The boy in this pic is a capon

what age was it done? Did he acquire those roo feathers afterwards? just plain curious....

That is such a cool picture, almost as if a black and white picture of a bird was cropped onto a colored picture.... also the textures and detail, background, depth illusion etc!

p.s. is it annoying if responses are bolded within quotes? normally I cannot stand entirely bolded or colored texts (colorblind here) but it is so much easier(in a lazy way!) instead of chopping up the quoted text.

Kev, yes the capon boys develop the big boy feathers and coloring, but usually have pale comb / wattles, no sex drive, no crow. Most capons are kept a minimum of 6 months old.

I don't mind the bold type.

Flower I think she is adorable, but she and a few others are going to live w/ my father in law. They will be spoiled there.
