How are these for Naked necks?

Not my picture, its from Ultimatefowl.com
These are Madagascar game fowl.
A little Jurassic Park in your back yard?

A friend has a bunch of Shamo type chickens in her yard and they are awesome. I was surprised how friendly they are and they get along with the other chickens and ducks. They free range on 3 acres.

Beautiful! And they free-range on three whole acres? Mercy!

I don't see any pictures.

Since I would not depend on egg production from them, it doesn't matter to me that they are seasonal. My friend has her chickens all free ranging. She has all kinds, even bantams. Her flock gets along fine, even the males. Her husband loves his birds like they are his children. They have well over a hundred chickens and he knows each one individually.
If nothing else, they are memorable attention - getters.

That is great, from everything I have ever read about them that is the exception though. I would consider getting them if I thought they would get along w/ the other birds, maybe if they are raised w/ them it makes a difference?????

oops sorry forgot to add picture

I have always admired these birds but do not have the facilities to deal with them. I do have plenty of room but don't think they could stand our regular winters...much less one such as we now experience.

EDIT: I see these birds are tethered. Free-range birds need not such restraints, if they are easy going. These are very friendly to people but death to other male chickens.

Just wondering if one bred a hen of this big breed to a standard NN rooster, how would the chicks turn out?
They would be NN, but temperment, size. egg laying ability? Interesting concept.
Good meat chickens? The Madagascar grow to 12# or so.
The Malay Game was used to create our Cornish chickens and those were the basis of our Cornish X. Just wondering.
