Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Thank you. Kassaundras birds (some of them) are kin to my birds. Just not any of those that are pictured.

These two are the ones that are some kin to hers. At least I think she still has stock that are kin anyway.

Yes, Shakespear is Mensa's son or grandson I can't keep up, all barring in the flock is from Mensa, and I have 3 girls that have the same coloring as Mensa so they have to be hers too.

Oh why would someone want 9 th gen bc the breeding issue with relatives thats why I thought u would like 1st gen then u could breed them together
The nice fluffy established quality doesn't come until the later generations. (10+) I have the means to start a showgirl line with my NN and silkie, but it would take 5 years or more to get even near to the quality of bird I would really like to have.for my family. Basically I'm looking to shortcut that amount of time by finding an already established showgirl line then continuing it on my own with my own crosses.

First gen. I can either cross my buff girl with a blue silkie or black nn with black silkie or black nn with white silkie

Do they tend to be broody hens? It seems they would be, but since I'm not familiar with the breed I don't want to make assumptions.

Yes silkies are one of the best Broodies in all breeds but ok i just thought it was 1 st gen for it but ok it should take less the time for me bc i could do 3 pairs

It would take 4 1/2 years to get to a 9th generation showgirl based on a 6 month average maturity time between each gen and the 21 days incubation. (Unless my math is way off.) No matter how many you have, you are starting at 0 gen with all of them. You would triple the amount of chicks with 3 pairs but it would not lessen the time between generations unless you were already using a showgirl that has a few generations behind it. I hope I said it in an understandable way, but I took a sleeping pill a little while ago so my mind is getting fuzzy and I might be the only one at this point who knows what I am trying to say...lol

Silky x naked neck make great broodys. I crossed abunch this year for that purpose. They all have regular feathers. To make real show girls you would have to cross them with silkys for the next 6 years, carefully selecting your stock. Good luck Nate with your breeding. I also crossed in frizzles, which I love
