Naked Neck/Turken Thread

its really strange i have two white naked neck rooters yesterday two of them were fine and today i found one dead ,i forgot to take a pic,but i could not found any injured on his body ,it seems like any prodator got him ,his body was intact , so i wonder why did he die,

I'm so excited! I've got roughly 18 NN Turken eggs from a mix of NPIP strains heading my way for my first-ever incubator hatch. I can't wait to see those little chicks peck their way into the world.

Speaking of breeding what would happen if you had a naked neck bantam and a regular standard size chicken and they mate what would the offspring be like or is that even possible!!

Very possible either way. Sometimes the size difference is just too great or the rooster just hasn't learned how to breed hens of very different size from him but generally they do it fine.

Generally expect the birds to be somewhere in between as for size.

So I've posted my rooster in here before, but I have question so here he is again:

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to whether he's pure for Naked Neck? I'm betting he's Nana instead of NaNa and only one fourth of his offspring, crossed to non Naked Neck hens, will hatch with bowties and the rest will have regular feathering, but I could be wrong, so I figured I'd ask

Agree with him being Nana. Expect half Nana and half nana chicks out of nana hens and him. Your ratio above(1/4) is along the lines for recessive genetics. Na is dominant/semi-dominant.

The reason he has some skin exposed below bowtie is due to having.. walnut?/rose? comb. Pea in particular has side effect of exposing more skin even on Nana- some would visually pass for NaNa due to bowtie being so small but this is not very consistent- your boy has just about the typical bowtie size for this combo.

Rose can have similar effect although usually not very much, full Nana sized bowties are very common on rose.. yet there will be some that have reduced bowties for whatever reason.

Congrats!!! I STILL haven't found the chance to set eggs... am going to miss the NYE hatchalong. :(

I am doing this years Hatch-A-Lang and plan on doing the Easter one. I seen a thread created for a Valentines Day Hatch-A-Long. I would do that one but it will be way too close to this one. Need to wait a little longer between hatches.

Of course everybody would love to see the baby pics in here... get all of us ready for spring!
