Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Hi all you NN experts,

This is Moto (she I think) is about 10 weeks old....not sure of age, a friend of a friend did the feed store impulse buy and then pawned them off on me, when he realized he didn't really want chickens. I have had them for a about 8 weeks now.

This is my first Naked Neck. Over the past couple of weeks her face has turned red. Is this normal?? I have checked for lice/mites and don't see any signs of them. They are in an indoor brooder, so it isn't a sunburn. Any ideas?? Her comb is still very pale, like you would expect.....just this red mask on her face. It is on both sides.

Sorry the pic is bad. It's night and there isn't enough light. I can take another one tomorrow if need be.

Thank you

100% normal, the red on the face, neck comes and goes depending on hormones and mood, it is not sunburn.

Put 12 eggs in the incubator last night from fibro nn project pen.Hens are double dose fibro (my guess)they are dun colored. The rooster is 1/2 dun laced silver polish 1/2 crested naked neck (from my family of crested toppies that I began my nn polish project with.)The rooster hatched from a green egg and the fibro hens lay a a dark brown egg.So have so many fun possibilities with this project. I still have the nn polish project, just put it on the backburner this year.I made some changes in this project. My birds were bantam polish size, want bigger birds.I want an all white bird, couldn't find a standard size white polish, ordered some from Murray McMurray and have those growing out now. So will resume the nn polish project next season.
