Naked Neck/Turken Thread

My favorite NN cockerel was stung by a scorpion this morning. I was able to treat him very quickly, and he seems to be recovering, but I'm worrying over him. He got to live indoors with me for a while as I coddled him and willed him to recover. So far, so good...but I won't stop worrying until he's made it through at least 24 hours symptom-free.

Ouch, where was he stung?

That's a beautiful rooster.

Oh that is great, is she experienced hatcher with a good incubator?  It could be a good way to find out where the issue might be...

Yes she is an has a good incubator. She hatched out over 100 bob white quail that were shipped had a 90% hatch rate.
Like someone else said, I've seen $1 per egg quoted before.

Look at my new Naked Neck!

Hope you can see him well enough. I couldn't get very good shots of him. He is kind if flighty and didn't want to take a chance if him getting loose. I'm too old to try running him down to catch him.

Naked Neck maker that is. I think on going to try to figure out which 1 of the NN is laying the green egg and pair him up with that one. To try to continue the green/blue egg line.

Thanks! I think he's gorgeous too. He runs to me to be pet, and jumps up on my lap to snuggle and take naps. He's so gentle and sweet....I just want him to be okay.

He was stung on the face. I treated the wound quickly and fed him 40cc of Benadryl in purified water + electrolytes. He spent about an hour resting in my arms before showing signs of coming out of it. Right now he's in his run, crowing , eating and drinking, so I'm hoping for the best. If he's still alive tomorrow morning I'll stop worrying and start making breeding plans for him again.

Sorry but he looks defective.. too much feathers... lol He's rumpless? Going to maintain that in line?

Oh I know what you mean about not wanting to chase chickens anymore (sounds better than saying too old!)

Yeah he does have too many feathers especially around his neck area.

Not really interested in the rumplessness nor the ear tufts. Mostly the blue egg gene, I've been told they pass it on better. Don't know just wanted to try it. If they inherit that gene then I might get something going and make goons of money from it.
