We gave some thought to the one hundred count order but were quickly slapped back into reality with the gifts from WV. We figured to start culling, early and often until er got down to a very manageable # of roughly 25. But, even 25 extra butts to deal with would press our limits of sanity especially if we plan to work on the Windfall we find ourselves with. And after getting a bit of mental and physical rest, we're making plans for winter hatching. When I go back to WV late next month, I'll be bringing the incubator back with me.

Yeah, that's the only way it would work is to make some aggressive cull decisions at 2 weeks/4 weeks/6 weeks, etc. I'd also need a brooder big enough or build one.

It's not just you. It told me I experienced an error, but then posted my comment anyway. If you wait a few seconds you'll get the "One New Post" indicator and that tells you that your response actually posted.

Hello, fellow Naked Neck fans. I'm not new to BYC but totally new to the NN thread. I ordered a couple NNs this past spring and received 3. Kind of did it on a whim - they sure seem to be an interesting looking bird and I always have a bunch of different breeds at one time. I was a little wigged out at their appearance as chicks but let me tell you, now that they are of near laying age, I am hooked. They are the favorites in my flock! Great personalities and so friendly! I think what amazed me was looking through all the NN pics on this forum. Had no idea they could be so many different colors. My three kind of look like red sex links in coloration but of course have the naked neck. Apparently there isn't a breed standard on color? Anyway, hope it's okay for a NN newbie to pop on over to this forum once in awhile and hang out with some fellow NN lovers!
