Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Ask your local shelter about their feral cat program. They catch, sterilize feral cats and relocate them to barns, or people that have rodent problems.

I feed 3 cats, have mouse traps and still have problems. there is plenty of food around (olives and almonds) + warm weather all year around. I can see cats catching mice but there is no help with rats.

Haha yeah it seems that way sometimes..... I absolutely cannot use anything laundry or body care related materials with any scent.. new clothes have to be rinsed then washed twice before I can wear them.. can't eat or even touch a lot of plants..

a nephew is very allergic to rabbits, another to guinea pigs and then there's me with mice.. seems to be a theme..

I think I am allergic to some people only, lol.

when I was a kid I had a few issues with allergies. vegan diet for a few weeks from time to time helped me. but I think that can work with kids only, less chance but not impossible for the adults. I have no serious allergy issues any more.

thanks. I didn't want to use that because I was afraiid that can harm chicken and dogs. it seems I don't have a choice any more.

This poison chickens can't and wouldn't eat because it is packed in little bags and they just can't get it. And our dog- I can't say 100% because he wasn't able to se the poison or get to it, but when dead or slow rats that are poisoned started showing up on the yard he didn't even touch them.

Goodness. I do understand. I was in the same predicament a few years ago. Feeding a whole passle of cats. (Mama and a grown litter of 6) Could see them with all sorts of mice and snakes...rabbits, moles...etc..., but RATS took over my feed room and the cats wouldn't go near them. I had everything in metal trash cans secured with chains... They were that bad. I would just bang hard on the door before I went in and the rats would, for the most part, hide or move away. One day I went to feed and my Cocker Spaniel went with me. He truly was the sweetest dog in the world, super gentle...the LAST dog I would have thought would kill ANYTHING, but... I opened that door and he saw a rat move. Oh my goodness! He went crazy!... dispatching like 10! in seconds. After that, he was my wing man whenever I went to feed. In about two weeks I had NO more rats. Too bad you dont have a Woody...

RATS and Mice supposedly can't stand peppermint, or I think, any kind of mint. You can try essential oils on cotton balls. Make a spray and spray it. Or, plant mint along your run fences and outside your coop. Mint is invasive... It WILL take over. So, if you dont want it everywhere, plant it in pots. Good luck!

Now, can anyone tell me how tp get rid of red wasps?? We are battling them. My grandbaby has been stung three times, my daughter twice, and I have been once.... All in the last three weeks. I can doctor the sting, but I really want the wasps gone, or minimized. I know they have a job and are beneficial...

I have 2 dogs that could kill rats but I have to many fences so they escape. my dog killed 1 only.

for the wasps try this:
http://www.prairiestory.com/2010/09/homemade-wasp-trap.html or google wasp traps and you will find many.

just make sure you put some vinegar or beer in it so you don't kill the precious bees.

Thanks! I'll try the traps. Good luck with the rats! Try planting the mint. It's easy to sprinkle some seeds or plant some small plants and see if the rats leave once the mint begins to grown. :-)

That's awful! I'm so sorry you have to live like this. The only thing I show obvious allergic reactions to is Tide laundry detergent. I don't know what it is about that stuff, but any clothes washed in any form of Tide results in instantaneous body rashes. Oh....and the adhesive on bandages and surgical tape. I had surgery a couple months back and warned the medical staff of my allergy but they didn't take it too seriously until one of them place a flexible fabric bandage on me and then watched as my skin puffed up and turned red all around it in a matter of minutes. I don't know what they put in that adhesive, but my body completely rejects it.
