Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Some of it comes form comparing them to each other as well. And I'm making calls pretty early (though to be fair, you can tell that many of the boys are certainly declaring themselves early). But at a minimum, #9 is definitely a pullet. I posed #8 earlier, I think we think she is a pullet from her comb appearance - I'm keeping my fingers crossed. (Her lower weight also goes with that - I've found weight to differentiate them early in NNs). As for #7, that's just me being hopeful. :D Here are the photos of the biggest boy, #3, vs. #8 that I took earlier - I think they show the differences better.
In these photos other one looks like pullet. They are very confusing, number 4 looks like tottaly different bird in these teo photos you posted earlier. In first it looks hirlish, but then in second-looks like boy. I just hope with you that they turn out girls.

Fresh out of the eggs all dried and mostly fluffy the two NN and the two honorary nn, They are all Stripey Butt's offspring so all Sc carriers, but none are from the CX girls I was trying for
Are these going to end up birchen? I don't remember well, but I think you had some birchens that hatched out like this.

Quote: I know - it's hard to capture it well in a photo, esp. as even the girls (including the little one whom I am sure about) have that reddening of cheeks and they're all chunky. And I was doing my weights and didn't take tons of photos because I was trying to get it done.

I realize I'm pushing it a bit to sex early, I'm just being hopeful that in this huge group of boys I'll have at least two girls.

Quote: Two of my black downed chicks in that last hatch have this same brown-black coloring (your pics show it better than mine) - I'm anxiously waiting to see what I get. I know less about background than you do - who knows what on earth Snape is carrying, he looks part Wyandotte for heaven's sake!

my mario (the maran's daddy) is sick, my Nn girls in his flock are not in the best shape either. I am doing my best and hope he will survive. but I have realized the place where I live is not good for chickens (bad climates).

as I am trying to sell my house I beg all of you to say just 1 word of prayer that I do sell my house and buy a better place for my chickens and hopefully add the other animals too (goats for sure).

my chicks are due in about a week. as I had a bad experience with a bad quality chicken starter the last time I had chicks I decided to feed the new chicks corn meal, home made sheep's fresh cheese and herbs and fresh greens + some olive oil.

Finally figured out what I am doing for a poultry project for the "dead" exhibits

When I get my NN chicks I will record there weight every 3 days until fair. And its also cool because I am doing a market trio with them!

No pictures today. Been too cool and on the cloudy side. Plus I only went out long enough to feed and water he birds, I've been sick about all week.

MAYBE Tomorrow.
