So are the White Giants from Sand Hill up to SOP standard weights?

Whites are supposedly usually a lb less for some reason. I need to weigh again to be sure. Last time I weighed I thought the roo was going to max out the 11lb limit on my digital scale for sure, only got ten lbs for him and seven for the hens....hard to believe they are the biggest chickens I've ever seen. So as of over a yr, less than a yr and a half, three lbs short of SOP. I was hoping for way over. I only processed one cockerel out of three from the origanal bunch, my brother has the other. Wish I kept better records/weights.....all I know is I got them July 5 and cooked that one up towards the end of winter and he had turkey size legs and a huge breast, not a filled out breast though like a cx, , just long. All the cockerels from my hatch this spring we processed young.
Last yr had sussex with the giants, giants were half again bigger but weighed the same. This yr new giant pullets with naked necks, giant pullets are as big as the red black cockerel I have them with, way bigger than the naked neck pullets and the white cockerel. I bet if I scale them though will be the same weight.

my little chick has leg problem and twisted toes. I am not sure if she was hatched like that or it is an injury. I had to take her out of the bator as she got stuck in the hole on the floor.

she is running away from the lamp. besides the feed I chopped her some dandelion and gave her some sesame seeds. she was pecking dandelion and when she discovered sesame seeds she said: rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and gobbled them. when I checked her at 5 am she was sleeping on the floor and no trace of feed, lol. I put some more.



btw, I give my chickens home made sheep's yogurt and boiled eggs. they have been bombing me with the eggs, I have too many.

Have the chick's toes taped up? if not, do that immediately.. the longer one waits the harder it is to set them. never ever wait on crooked toes even if only a hour old. what is the leg problem?

weighed the biggest cx nn cockerel and pullet just now: Pullet 65.28, cockerel 64.32 this is the pullet: @Phil she is the silver colored chick.

Wow, I love the crisp white color with this dark legs. God I miss my girl that looked like this.

I made a cardboard shoe but to tape it - mission impossible. this little speedy gonzales wouldn't let me. then sesame seeds, dandelion and walking on the towel did a miracle:



she is a quiet baby: sleeps, eats and again sleeps.

the color is close but not quite wild type.. probably has something extra..

Speaking of breeding difficulties, I thought I might be facing a similar situation with a my 3/4 Dark CornishX1/4 CX cockerel but he has managed to control his bulk and cut the mustard with three or four Chantecler hens (I witnessed the events). Prior to seeing these hopeful antics, I had considered eating him or.....going with AI.

I looked into it on some Indian (India) youtube vids and realized I have almost everything laying around the house that's needed....except someone to help by hold the hen being AI'd.

I may do it on a few pairs simply for the experience.
