Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Yeah, Bull Snakes are non-venomous, but from what we have been told, they have a mouth like a sewer which can make you very sick if you are bitten; but usually they strangle their prey, like one of those Florida Pythons, - mucho bacteria and toxins - but a neighbor swears it was just a very large garter snake, who do bite when agitated, so maybe it was a garter (no rattles on the tail, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a rattler, which are pretty common in our neck of the woods) ..... whatever it was, it's bite didn't take long to kill the roo!
Oh yes, garters have very nasty mouths. I had a friend that went to the ER with systemic infection from a garter snake bite, and it was a pet store variety.. not even a wild one. And he was a 240 lb full grown man.

Hi is anyone on here offering naked neck hatching eggs? I'd love to have some that laid blue or green colored eggs if anyone has them!

Not at the moment, but perhaps later in the fall or next spring. And I have many blue/green egg layers, both single comb and rose comb. Here's a sampling of some of my colorful egg gene layers and carriers:

They are stunning! If you have any available later on this year, I would love to buy some hatching eggs from you. I like to hatch chicks out in the fall to have spring pullets.

Here is the one I hatched from one of your eggs....still waiting on that egg! I keep saying, any day now! :) She has such a fluffy butt! I should get a photo of her from behind. :D

Love it. Very pretty girl.
She has a green tint to her legs and feet.

@ Desert Chic - What variety do you call the one 'Sissy' in the pix of your NN chickens, or is there a variety name for the red/orange/black? Both my rooster and my hen are that same coloration. She lays brown eggs, BTW, I had no idea that some NNs lay green/blue eggs. Since we're just a few weeks from snow, my wife won't put them together yet (she doesn't want to eat fert-eggs), but this Spring we probably will .... if he settles down .... otherwise he's a stew-pot special! He's the aggressive rooster I wrote about in an earlier post - he's still not weighing enough to butcher - he's all legs and wings, doesn't seem to put on any size in his body!

I honestly don't know what that color description would be called. She's a NN/Easter Egger mix, which provided the pea comb and blue egg. @Kev is the color genetics expert around here, so if he checks in maybe he can help us out.

I've had roosters like what you described as far as lack of meat. They didn't gain any real size until over a year old. The only way I got mine to fatten up was to put them in a smaller, isolation pen so they didn't get enough exercise to work off their feed.

OMG! She looks just like my girl, Buffy! Which looks just like the photo of my girl, Honey, but with a straight comb.
