So I was reading an old thread that claimed naked necks that were heterozygous would have beautiful full bowties and homozygous would have tiny or no bowties. Is this right or outdated? (Thread was from like 2013)

On second thought...I'm gonna need you to sell me some of those eggs! Lol.My green egg laying hen came from crossing a Naked Neck with a Crested Cream Legbar. She doesn't have the crest though. When I hatch from her, her daughter's are laying the green egg's too.

I really want some green layers! At some point I want to keep an EE x NN hen.My green egg laying hen came from crossing a Naked Neck with a Crested Cream Legbar. She doesn't have the crest though. When I hatch from her, her daughter's are laying the green egg's too.
Yeah, but would those be the ones with ugly 3 feathered bowties or the beautiful full bowties? I had always figured it was the full ones since those are what are painted on the standards in the SOP, but now I'm not sure. Both of the parent's have to have double Naked Neck genes if you are working towards getting the clean necked one's.

Buy if I just wanted a hatch with 100% naked neck phenotype and none with full feathered necks, would that be breeding two with big bowties or little bowties? That's what I'm trying to figure outEveryone's goal's with the NN are different. You decide what you want, and then work towards it.

Okay thanks. But if I breed 2 with large bowties together, 100% of the chicks that hatch will still have the naked necks too?If you are trying to get the fully clean neck's with no feather's on the neck's at all, then you will need to breed 2 together that have the smaller bowties.
