Naked Neck/Turken Thread

These 6 were from my hatch in 5-3 thru 5/5, 2023. There were hatched from purchased eggs, the parents were purchased from Hoover Hatchery by the breeder I got the eggs from.

The photos were taken 5-18-2923 @ a day over 3 weeks old.

I've just ordered some bantam Transylvanian hatching eggs!

Got a bit over excited and didn't research the breed first.

Will they fit in ok with my mixed bantam flock? Can they survive temperatures of 40°C down to -18°C as that is the range we had last year in the UK?

I've read they are super friendly. Is this true?
I've never had the bantams but Congratulations 🍾 I hope you have an awesome hatch!

I only have my one bantam naked neck, but she's in a mixed flock of bantam and large fowl hens and some bantam roosters, and has had no issues with anyone in there. She also did just fine this past winter when we had a cold snap down to somewhere around -20 to -23° C for a few days, so I expect yours will do fine with your temps there! We don't get as hot as 40°C here, but naked necks are supposed to be excellent for hot temps, so I'm sure they'll be fine with that as well.

Mine isn't necessarily what I'd call friendly, but she isn't human shy, either. She avoids my hands if I try to pick her up, but comes over to see what I'm doing when I'm out and lets me rub her neck or mess with her feathers. I refer to her as 'busy', always on the move, always getting into things, always up to something. 🤭 But mine is more of a mix with the naked neck trait than a pure specimen of the naked neck breed, so it's hard to say how yours might end up being just based on her.

Hi! I thought you would like to see my hen dustbathing with her chicks a few days after hatching them. As you can see, she only has one chick that hatched from her egg and it inherited Nn gene. Blue ones are australorps and black ones are either australorps or australorp crosses with barnyard hens.

I have her daughter from 2021 sitting on some eggs that are due to hatch in about a week but I don't think she has any Nn eggs since they are the only two that I have and she was sitting and not laying for a few days before I gave her eggs and her mother was sitting on eggs for two weeks already.
