Thats hard to say, which is pure NN and whats not.
I have been told as long as it has NN it's pure. I don't know about that, So Breed & follow the ABA & APA standards..
Josh it's actually very easy, even on day olds to tell which birds are pure for the naked neck gene. For example, look at newlywed's new(and cute!) chicks.. the one at top is pure for the naked neck gene and the at bottom is not. I know this because the one at top has a naked spot between the eye and beak and the one below doesnt(plus can see it has a large bowtie too). As for the Naked Neck breed.. that's another story. Often times it is said the ones completely bare necked are the only ones pure for the naked neck gene, but this is not true at all.
I've shown my chicks before.. will show them again:
Pure, has very small bowtie.. see how obvious the neck is all the way down to chest plus the naked spot between eye and beak:
Left not pure, right pure:
See the chick on left has a fully fuzzy face, not able to see whole of neck from front. Right chick has medium size bowtie however you can easily see front of neck down to chest.. plus naked spot on face.
I have been offline for a few days but I would like to thank you KEV for the very informative info. I will be taking pic of the babies shortly and you can see my GLW X NN chickies...Maybe you guys can help me sex them. She only hatched out seven, then quit (she is such a QUITTER!!) I guess that was enough for her (seven kids, I would guess so!!
I have been hatching out my first pure bantams this spring and I will have F1 showgirls hatching anytime now. Now I just need a frizzle to cross with them LOL. Oh, and I love also silkies, so sizzles would be fun too

So cute! I'm with you, I just love my bantam naked necks. I have frizzle bantam cochins and frizzle bantam polish eggs in the incubator... if all goes well with this hatch, hopefully next Spring I will have some frizzle NN's. Fun!
I only have one black turken hen that was sold to me as a cockerel. Her name is Jerry and now that she's laying eggs, I can hatch out some of my own turkens!
The soon to be father is a Barred Rock roo, so the chicks should be Barred Turkens when they hatch. And I think Jerry is (Na/na+), so It should be 50/50 on the naked necks. Man!!! I'm sooo exited.
I'm going to go put those eggs in the bator RIGHT NOW!
Jerry the Hen
George the Barred Rock Roo
George looks like he might have a little rhode island, or some other breed in him. Hope fully the chicks are still barred though.
