Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I think full size as all the eggs were totally HUGE, (and a pretty green). If it was a bantam egg, that would be some egg for a bantam. Kev snuck some in when I was getting some other eggs from him, so I did not get much info on them. He is determined to convert us all into NN lovers.

Well, his little hen has made me a convert!

Phage, have you been able to successfully incubate eggs that have travelled through the US mail ?

When I had a turken pair a long time ago the hen was half the size of the rooster. He was very large, gentle and beautiful. I am thinking from the pictures that I have seen that it is standard for the turken male to be much larger than the female.

I must have hatched maybe 80 sets of eggs sent through the US mail in the last 3 years. Success rate is very variable and depends on handling during shipping and packaging. I have had a 100% hatch rate on some eggs from Maine, but lots of zeros as well. Luckily I have a great bator, so if eggs start to develop, I do get a good hatch rate.

Thank you for that wonderful news. I have had no luck whatsoever except a few of my own eggs most of which I sold to a neighbor. Maybe I can talk you into cooking some for me ?

Has anyone out there in Turken (Naked Neck) land ever seen a Mille Fleur Turken? My brother found some today aand got three of them.
I'll try to get some pictures and post a little later this week.

I try to line up the buyers from people that I know are already interested. So since you like to incubate can I order eggs for delivery on January 20 so I can bring them down for the meet-up ? And some from Kev also since everyone needs a few turkens ?
