Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I imagine that I would need to make another trip when you tell me of the results of the 21 or plus days. I am retired and am able to do some impractical things. You see I know no one around here who has a good incubator and I do not want to invest in another one myself.

That sounds great. Where are you coming from?

It would be great if we could get Kev to come to the SD meet up. Maybe you guys could car pool??

Well, you don't know what your missing, and for that I'm not telling

This has been a wonderful 19th anniversary for me. I have been wanting a white colored turken and also a columbian colored turken and today on my anniversary I got both. I wish I had a camera to put their pictures on here. I am just so happy.

Anyone here have pure, never out crossed, Naked Necks that are homozygous ie no bowtie, preferably a "silver" based color? I'm looking to start a homestead dual/meat project based on the traditional naked neck qualities. Traditionaly naked necks where known to have uniquely thin skin and delicate meat texture. Hubbard-Isa actually has done this by crossing a true naked neck to one of their rustic broiler lines. This naked neck Rebro is boasted as the best chicken in Europe. I don't trust the hatcheries to have lines that still have genetics for the thin skin and unique meat texture so I'm looking for a pure line from a private breeder.

I'd love to have naked necks that I can also use to start my own flock of eating chickens too. I plan on crossing a silver based homozygous naked neck to a red laced white cornish to hopefully get a solid white naked neck with a more cornish shaped body to start the project.
