Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Without the feathers, they look too much like dinner. I would get attached to one and never eat chicken again.

If anyone is near me, I have a few NN cockerels (8+ weeks old, from mamawolf's eggs) that are free to byc folks - probably will put them on CL in a few weeks as soon as I decide which one I'd like to keep. They are all buffs. Was hoping I had more females, but looks like I only have 3!

Pictures to follow once I get out to the big ol coop. NN power! LOL.

I have to say I probably have the same look on my face as the little girl in the picture. The dark skin certainly makes it more dinosaur looking, and better than the sunburned red looking white featherless chicken. Are you working on a project for more protein and weight?

I must be honest though, I wouldn't want it running around my yard.

I am considering the NN/Bramha cross for a meat bird if I can even get the processing issues resolved. (Can't process my own birds due to my disabilities).

they have no way to stay warm and need a heated pin the black skin was bread in so they will not sunburn they are breeding thise geen for hott climats when razing featherd chickens is not posabale without cooling houses where a featherless chicken would not have to be cooled i am working on it more as a novalty and braging rights im a MAD CHICKEN SCIENCETEST or somthing wlooohahaha ( evil laghf)

Hi! As much as I enjoy my Naked Necks, those are *too much naked* for me. Kev might know what you mean, but for the rest of us: WHAT is 'Scalless Geen'? Is it the breed name or new-found gene combination?
Either way, congratulations!

ca, very pretty, looks like it should give some milk in future:P this is a paint silkie cross or what?

Same question as Dipsy Doodle Doo....what the heck is scalless geen? Could it be SCALELESS GENE which is found in reptiles and does just what it says. (Birds being pretty closely related to reptiles).

I am also of 'Too much skin' of the 'olive skin statue bird'.....I like my birds to be able to live as they were intended by nature without needing to plaster 'em with suncream, knit them jumpers, spray them with water to keep them cool etc. etc.

Scaleless gene is present in chickens too, but it makes lot's of problems with their healt, as i know..
