Do I smell apple pie?

Yes, but not this week.
I’m putting it all up for fall and winter.
I’m going back and getting Honeycrisp next Saturday.
This bushel I am cooking and freezing apple pie filling and fried apples.
Will possibly dehydrate apple slices.
And if I had a good recipe, I’d make apple chutney.
Anyone have a good apple chutney recipe? One that is tried and true.

To Do:

* Take Kid #3 out on a freeway drive in his new (to him) car and shake it down
* Attend our first NFL game (Cards/Panthers) with my pops.
* Grill burgers when we get home

Learned that my hen Melba passed away overnight… She’s the likeliest hen to have mothered the keet photographed in my avatar/pfp (and most of the 2023 hatchlings).

I thought about driving from Meeker to Longmont for no real reason… but I’ll be back that way in Thursday for a flu shot so I’ll just stay in place.

“Ember” kitty is being her crazy self and still doesn’t know why her sudden meow outbursts startle me.

Melba is young. Was she sick?

She was among the 4 guinea keets that I purchased in May 2021 so was about 4.5 years old. I think she had struggled with salpingitis earlier this year, but because my workplace is so far from the farm housing my flock I am not able to care for them as I’d like to.
